Wladimir Iljitsch Lenin ( – ) war Politiker und Gründer der kommunistischen Partei in Russland. Sein Ziel war es, Gerechtigkeit und Gleichheit in Russland einzuführen. Das gelang ihm jedoch nicht: Stattdessen sorgte er mit seiner revolutionären Bewegung für Gewalt, Chaos und Unterdrückung.
Erst war Lenin Mitglied der Sozialdemokratischen Partei in Russland (kurz: SDAPR). Er trennte sich jedoch mit seinen Anhängern von den Sozialdemokraten und gründete eine neue Partei namens „Bolschewiki“. An der Regierungsspitze ging er systematisch gegen politische Gegner vor und forderte Unmengen an Toten.

Zusammen mit Josef Stalin errichtete er später die Sowjetunion. Sie gilt als der erste und größte kommunistische Staat der Welt.

Tidlige år
Lenin ble født i Simbirsk (i dag Uljanovsk). Han var sønn av en skoleinspektør som i kraft av sin statsstilling hadde adelig rang. Alle seks barna ble aktive revolusjonære, og broren Aleksandr ble henrettet i i forbindelse med at det ble avslørt planer om et attentat mot tsaren.
