Rafael Correa is a state and political figure from Ecuador who served as the President of Ecuador from to He holds a Doctor of Economics degree and is a graduate of the University of Illinois in the United States. Prior to becoming President, Correa held the position of Minister of Economy.

A pesar de ser de padres nacidos en Los Ríos esta familia se desarrolló en la ciudad de Guayaquil. La vida de Correa inicia con una trayectoria difícil ya que con tan solo 4 años de edad su padre es detenido en Estados Unidos por agentes de la DEA. Siendo condenado a 5 años y tres meses de cárcel en Atlanta, no obstante salió a los 3 años. Durante este periodo la madre de Rafael, Normal Delgado, sacó adelante a su familia cocinando y era Rafael el encargado de hacer las entregas después de clases. La ausencia de su padre causó una dificultad tanto emocional como económica por el hecho de estar ausente en ese periodo.

Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado, the former President of Ecuador, was born on April 6, , in the city of Guayaquil on the Pacific coast of the country. He was raised in a modest family, but managed to graduate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Guayaquil.
