Thurston, I'm told by my sources, is set to join KCBSonce procedural, (paper work) is completed. I'm hearing she'll probably do a lot of holiday fill-in anchoring as Thanksgiving and Christmas are beckoning.I've been uber-critical of KCBS but this a GOOD MOVE by the Audacy folks and ND/VP, Jennifer Seelig. Credit due.

Cumulus Media news/talk KGO San Francisco () unveils a new on-air lineup with the additions of veteran talk show hosts Mark Thompson, Pat Thurston and John Rothman. The new lineup, which goes into effect March 11, will feature Thompson (10ampm), Thurston (pm) and Rothman (pm).
“I’m excited to be able to add more live and local programming to KGO,” PD/OM Lee Hammer said in a release. “KGO is talking about the major stories of the day and the impact they have on our daily life. To get those conversations started, we’ve added three outstanding and veteran talk show hosts, each with their own unique style of engaging, informing and entertaining our listeners.”
Thompson is a year radio industry veteran having worked at KABC () and KFI Los Angeles and previously at KGO. He is also a TV weatherman, working in Denver, Los Angeles, New York and for eight years at KRON-TV San Francisco.
“It’s nothing short of a thrill to be back on the air in the Bay Area and on a legendary station that was my daily companion for so long,” said Thompson. “It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to with the KGO audience, which I believe is one of the smartest audiences in all of broadcasting.”

Until December 5, , KGO created nearly all of its own local programming, with very limited syndicated content. The majority of its programs were hosted by San Francisco Bay Area broadcasters. The daily schedule included many issues-oriented talk shows, with weekday hosts that included Gene Burns, Gil Gross, Ronn Owens, John Rothmann, and lawyer Len Tillem. The station also carried a variety of specialty programs, particularly on weekends, with John Hamilton discussing travel and leisure, Gene Burns covering fine food and dining (on a show separate from his weekday program), Joanie Greggains hosting a health-and-fitness program, and Brent Walters, who teaches "Comparative Religions" at San Jose State University, hosting the early Sunday morning show, God Talk.
