OTW by Vans And Homme Girls Unveil Debut Collab Featuring Sk8-Mid 83 Hightop
VF Corp-owned OTW by Vans has partnered with Homme Girls, the menswear-inspired magazine and label by designer Thakoon Panichgul, for a debut collaboration.
The six-piece footwear and apparel capsule collection features the OTW Sk8-Mid 83 sneaker featuring a premium suede and canvas upper and offered in either black or white. Apparel offerings include multiple Homme Girls staples such as checkerboard boxer shorts, an embroidered ribbed tank top, a vintage-wash long sleeve cropped shirt and ruffled-hem ribbed crew socks.
Vans and HommeGirls announced the news alongside a campaign featuring surfer, skater, and Homme Girls cover star Devyn Garcia and Vans skate team riders Etienne Gagne and Stafhon Boca, all of whom were shot on the streets of New York by photographer Grace Ahlbom with styling by Flo Arnold.
Vans announced its pinnacle design division Vault would be relaunched as OTW by Vans in early OTW by Vans creative direction is lead by Lanie Alabanza-Barcena, who heads apparel and accessories alongside Ian Ginoza who leads creatives for footwear.

Los Angeles-based label HLZBLZ as led by Lanie Alabanza-Barcena this year celebrates its tenth anniversary, which in the age of knock-off fashion is a huge deal for any fashion company, especially a womens streetwear label existing in a space whose retail and media-coverage set up is pretty much entirely devoted to men.
The thing about Alabanza-Barcena aka Miss Lawn, while she may publicly come across as quiet, even reserved, she is definitely one of those real Gs move in silence types, a total boss who is unshakably and deeply loyal to the HLZBLZ crew, her husband, Bam, and keeping HLZ BLZ live and direct for its many fans and followers who love the light it shines for women whove never viewed their gender as a limitation or dictation. Everybody knows, when it comes to women and streetwear, Albanaza -Barcena occupies a very elite club whose members are few.

HLZBLZs Lanie Alabanza-Barcena: Streetwear today is about making as much money as possible
After moving to New York from San Diego in the early aughts, Alabanza-Barcena got her start in the industry doing graphic design for the then-buzzy urban wear label Triple Five Soul. She hopped to Rocawear under co-founder and music producer Damon Dash soon after, working her way up to an art director position just as Jay-Z was taking over.
At the time, the look that Rocawear was selling was based on what Alabanza-Barcena calls “the hook up” a hip-hop inspired outfit featuring matching hoodies, sweatpants and shoes. Alabanza-Barcenas Southern California roots, however, had her looking to skate culture more than her colleagues for design ideas, and she found herself itching for more graphic tee options like she’d seen on the skaters back home.

“I tried to educate my bosses at the time that there were other girls like me wearing graphic tees that didn’t need to match the rest of their outfit,” she said. When a capsule collection pitch didn’t convince them, she decided to start selling the tees herself on the side to streetwear doors
Vans Taps Lanie Alabanza-Barcena To Design OTW Apparel And Accessories
Vans recently announced the debut of OTW by Vans, a new premium shoe and apparel division,
launched at an event held during Paris Fashion Week Mens.
Were pretty excited to note that the brand has tapped Lanie Alabanza-Barcena aka the lovely and
talented Miss Lawn to direct apparel and accessories design. The brand also brought on former Nike designer Dylan Petrenka to design footwear.
OTW by Vans will included two divisions: OTW, a space for collaborators, and Premium Standard, an elevated collection of classics. OTW by Vans will launch in early and will replace Vault by Vans, which will be phased out this year.
Alabanza-Barcena is best know for launching HLZBLZ, a foundational womens streetwear label established in Duing its run, HLZBLZ collaborated with Vans, as well as Reebok, Sanrio and Looney Tunes, among others.
More recently, she collaborated with Melody Ehsani on multiple pieces. Alabanza-Brcena got her start in the business at Rocawear Juniors where she was an art director.
