Graeme Simsion is a former IT consultant and the author of two nonfiction books on database design who decided, at the age of fifty, to turn his hand to fiction. His first novel, The Rosie Project, was published in and translation rights have been sold in forty languages. Movie rights have been optioned to Sony Pictures. The sequels, The Rosie Effect, and The Rosie Result, were also bestsellers, with total sales of the series in excess of five million.
Graeme's third novel was The Best of Adam Sharp, a story of a love affair re-kindled - and its consequences. Movie rights have been optioned by Vocab Films / New Sparta Films with Toni Collette attached to direct.

Graeme Simsion discusses The Rosie Effect, the sequel to his very successful debut The Rosie Project, and how the books reflect his own life.

How was writing the sequel different than writing The Rosie Project? Do you feel as though you&#;ve changed as an author?

Two things made writing The Rosie Effect much easier (which is not to say easy!). First, I already had my central characters in place. Don&#;s voice and Rosie&#;s character were the two biggest challenges in writing The Rosie Project. Second, I was experienced. The Rosie Project was my first novel, and it&#;s always tough doing something for the first time, whether it&#;s making a complicated dish or overhauling an engine. The second time, you know what you&#;re doing.

I&#;ve improved as an author and I&#;m more confident in what I&#;m doing, but I haven&#;t changed in any qualitative way. Yet.

Did you feel any pressure returning to these characters, knowing that they had amassed such a loyal readership? What were you most worried about?

Graeme Simsion is an Auckland born Australian writer, data modeler, playwright, consultancy manager, and author. He is famous for writing contemporary, fiction, humor, and comedy stories. Simsion has successfully written the Don Tillman book series, which has reached out to a large number of readers throughout the world. Prior to the beginning of his writing career, he used to work as a consultant of information systems in an IT company. While working in that job, he wrote a few papers on data modeling and two books.
